Started in 1978, the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management is now rated among the top 5 business schools in the country. The courses that are offered by Symbiosis MBA programs include a complete postgraduate MBA course, executive MBA, part time MBA course and distance MBA.
The best option for those like me who want to get an MBA degree is undoubtedly the full-time MBA postgraduate course and that is what I would suggest as well. I will get a basic knowledge of the different areas of management in the first year by studying papers like economics, accounting, finance, quantitative technique, HR, operations, marketing, etc. I will also need to complete an internship. In the second year I will be studying special and elective papers. In my opinion, there is really no alternative to this course considering that the faculty is also among the best in the country.
However, those of you who want to work and study parallely need not feel left out. The executive MBA course at the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management is no less good. This course prepares students to become successful functional managers by sharpening their management skills. There is a lot of scope for participation from your side as a student since the course is a lot dependent on feedback and discussions. The masters’ degree in Business Administration is provided in such a way that it does not hamper the work timings of the student.
The distance MBA course in Symbiosis is recognised by Distance Education Council (DEC). The admission process to the distance learning courses is organised in April.
In order to appear for Symbiosis MBA, you must have a graduate degree from any recognised university. In fact, you can apply even if you are applying for your finale exams. Other eligibility criteria include a diploma along with a work experience of 5 years, in the position of a supervisor after the courses completion. Post graduates in other subjects or NRI`s who have completed graduation from accredited university can also apply.
In order to apply, you have to qualify in SNAP, which is the written entrance test conducted by Symbiosis. The exam takes place in December and the registration process is in September. Those of you, who can successfully crack the entrance exam, have to appear for a written test and a group discussion. Getting into Symbiosis MBA requires a lot of dedication and hard work. So I suggest that if you think you will go for it, you should start preparing at least quite a few months before the entrance.
