Dear Ishu

1st of all, Kashmir University is a good university. In fact we have a verbal faculty who is BA English as well as MA English from Kashmir Univ. And she is excellent.

Now, if u really want to improve ur communication skills, I will say:
1. Read an English newspaper daily.
2. Find those words in newspaper of which u dont know the exact meaning.
3. Make a diary and write those words and there meanings in that diary.
4. for 10-20 min daily, speak loudly what u have read in newspaper.
5. start thinking in english.
6. make a group of friends and do a 15-30 min GD everyday.
7. Speak in english to subji wala, and all people of that standsrd. U wont feel ashamed talking to them. Ur hesitation will go away sooner.

Do this all for say 30 days daily, U urself will see a measurable difference in ur language skills

I am very happy that you are working hard towards your self improvement.

As you have not mentioned, you want to groom yourself for what, I am assuming you are planning for forthcoming placement season.

I will suggest the following:
1. Improve your English communication as much as you can.
2. Prepare your biodata.
3. Do not randomly apply to all the companies which visit your college. Apply if you are seriously interested in the job. Before applying, read a lot about the job(JOB DESCRIPTION as they say). Read a lot about what the company is and what they do.
4. Keep 1 or 2 official dress ready to be used on the day of the recruitment process. Do not wear this dress randomly and every now and then. but do rehearse 1 day before your actual interview. This has to be done in initial 2-3 interviews.
5. Prepare your answer to the questions: 1. Introduce yourself. 2. Tell us something about yourself which is not written in biodata. You may find tips on how to write these answers on http://www.mbatutes.com itself.
6. After the interview, write a small feedback of the interview. Also write the goof ups which you have done as well as the commitments you have made.

Varsha. I won’t suggest you using Hindi words or Hindi at all in a GD or a PI. If you are weak at English, then u should better practice speaking certain sentences & cram them up. This will boost your confidence and may be you will be able to speak a little better than you expect.

I suggest you can join Toastmasters international. Google it to find more about it.

This will for sure help you. Side by side start watching English moview(HBO) and speak with the actor in the movie.

Also see the terms which you can’t understand, on wikipedia. You will have to take a little pains, but believe me results will be worth the efforts.

Rather U will continously build your answer on the lines of the answer you will read. I suggest you write your answer and send it to me. I will suggest you the changes , in case any is required.
