People trying for an EMBA at SP Jain Singapore, please do rethink your decision.

The professors are mostly good, it’s the administration and fickle policies that will suck your blood away. If you persist you will have a decent MBA for sure once done, but it will be in spite of the administration, not because of them.

    Examples:

No fixed schedule – all courses schedule are subject to change, forget planning your holiday/meeting or travel. For us working people this creates hell with your life – one cannot plan out anything more than 2 weeks in advance as any course start day will change, and no email intimation will be made, thats certain

No respect – Excited about your dissertation idea and want to bounce it with the head of marketing (as said by the management), forget it! Students have waited 6-8 weeks to get a meeting with the dean/heads and have been told they have no time.

Pay higher for the food: EMBA students pay more than GMBA students, utilize lesser resources than them, yet they need to pay upto 30% higher prices for the food at the canteen. Why, is my f***ing money not as good that you need more of it?

No respect for IPR: Harvard case studies are photocopied and distributed, and students asked to keep it ‘hush’, similar stories on many other issues like this

Books: You pay for the books in international currency, the books you receive are the India edition. Unfair or practical? You judge

I have not seen such a lackadaisical chalta hai attitude for a very long time. SP Jain has not only come to Singapore, it has brought the worst of India along with it.

No replies from course managers – really thick skinned bunch dont give much of a s**t about the EMBA students, they are the cash cows- milk them, ignore them

Modular format – in advanced classes you will have students with zero knowledge about the course (from new batches) to people who completed their foundation classes, as a result the professor will dumb down the course, this continues throughout the specialization, one achieves the minimum learning possible, not the maximum

If you do want to come to Singapore to study, look at other non-Indian options, you will not regret it.

      Hi,
I am planning to go for EMBA at SP Jain. It sounds like the course is not that good but which other course do you recommend in Singapore other than SPJ EMBA then?

    NO PLACEMENTS in THIS YEAR2009…
my frend returned barefoot & barehanded as v less placements happened for wealth& investment options. moreover, your specialisation should be in alignment with workex or else u lose ur WROK -EX tag & start as fresher in the field – it goes against ur chances of getting placement easily

    Hello!!!

I have got a call from spjain global MBA – Can anyone please guide me on the format of Essay and case study? I mean what kind of essays, they ask.

Also please suggest about the college – learning enviornment. Is it worth to enrol for GMBA.

I am a mechanical engineering graduate and have an exp. of 5+ years (including 1 1/2 years exp. internation work ex.)

    Thanks

    neha

  5. Ansh says:

    Hi Neha,

I have been through the GMBA process last year. As far as the selection process is concerned, Essay and case study will be followed by two rounds of interview. The essay will be a general topic. Case will be specific to your area, which you are opting for. Essay is to gauge your personality and your attitude. Then there was a interview, which was a elimination round. The selected candidate, I was one of those, were interviewed by the dean. I finally got selected, but did nt join.

The Institute is good but decision to join it purely depends on what options do you have. Its a trade of between high cost and returns you are expecting. you profile looks good. May be a decent B-school in India will give you a better ROI. Do you have any option from India??? may be after knowing that I can help in better way.

    • neha says:

Hi Ansh….Thanks for the advice…Actually I wrote GMAT and got a score of 600…On the basis of this score I applied only in SP Jain Global MBA….I am also keen on joining an Indian B School….But I don’t think any of the decent B School in India will accept this score…btw if not sp jain global then which college did you join? and what are you doing these days?

  6. Rashmi says:

EMBA certificate issued by SP jain Dubai has no value since it cannot be attested by UAE ministry or Indian education ministries.
For batches since 7 to 18 (as what i have information) their certificates cannot be attested anywhere in the world and hence are worthless. SPJain management is silent about it as if they know nothing about it.

    • Rashmi says:

Management managed to resolve this problem for batches upto 13 which means students till batch 13 will get EMBA degrees issued in joint collaboration of SPJMIR Mumbai and SPJACM Dubai which can be duly attested from India and foreign ministry Dubai. Sorry folks the problem was not for batch 7,8 and 9. it was only from batch 10. anyways its resolved for some batches now. hopefully will be resolved for all upcoming batches too. all the best.

    Hi aadhin
Great profile .I would strongly suggest the S P Jain Global MBA for the following reasons:
1.Ranked Asia’s Best Business School (CMO Awards – Singapore)
2.Fully accredited internationally by AMBA – UK and Ministry od Education and Training ,New South Wales,Australia
3.Twin/three city Global exposure – incomparable with even ISB
    4.Outstanding award winning global faculty
5.Great placements whether April or November
6.Logistics and Supply chain is a good option if your have the relevant exposure, but since you have consulting background can also consider the latest specialization in consulting
7.Overall highly recomended as an excellent global business school
