Choosing MBA Colleges

In the last few years, the craze for getting an MBA degree has increased by leaps and bounds. This has resulted in the opening of MBA colleges in every nook and corner of cities. However, getting admission into any random institute is never advisable. Before you take admission in any business school, you must do a thorough research about it and check on better options. All institutes now guarantee a 100% placement. You need to apply your judgement and understand which ones are reliable and provide a degree that will be accepted everywhere.

The first parameter in the choice of MBA colleges is the location- that is, in India or abroad. Here are a few top institutes that you might want to think about when deciding upon institutes:

  • India: The first and most significant institute offering courses in business administration are of course the IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management). Present in 6 cities (Bangalore, Calcutta, Ahmedabad, Kozhikode, Indore and Lucknow) in the country, the IIM is considered one of the top business schools all over the world. Entrance is based on CAT results and personal interview. ISB Hyderabad is another major institute for MBA courses and is among the top 15 global business schools. The Xavier’s Labour Research Institute (Jamshedpur), the Jamanlal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (Mumbai) and the SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (Mumbai) are also considered among the top business schools in the country.

If someone decides to get an online MBA degree, there are a lot of MBA colleges too which provide quality study materials and coordinate with students adequately to help them out. The ICFAI Business School at Hyderabad offers an MBA program of 2 years. IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University), located in New Delhi also offers distance MBA courses. Other institutes include NMIMS (Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies), Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning.

  • Abroad: The three most popular destinations abroad for getting an MBA degree are the UK, the US and Australia. When it comes to Australia, the top business schools include The Melbourne Business School under The University of Melbourne, The University of Sydney, The Monash University and the Australian School of Business (ASB) University Of New South Wales. Harvard University Boston, Stanford University Stanford, University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) Philadelphia and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Sloan) Cambridge are the most sought after business schools in the US.
